About the position
Onyett is seeking an experienced Brake Press Operator responsible for forming various types of steel for bucket and blade liners. The role involves shaping metal, maintaining the press brake, reading blueprints, completing inspections, and ensuring safety regulations are followed. The operator will work with different materials and perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure optimal performance.
Responsibilities
- Select proper tooling and dies based on material thickness and type.
- Set up tooling, load programs, and set machine parameters to ensure optimal performance of the equipment.
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished workpieces.
- Measure, mark, and scribe dimensions and reference points on material or workpieces as guides for subsequent forming as necessary.
- Calculate and set controls to regulate forming factors.
- Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance forming and adjust machine controls as required.
- Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using measuring and inspection tools as necessary.
- Set up and operate machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks on machines as required.
- Ensure that safe work practices are followed and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a Brake Press Operator.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and execute work accordingly.
- Proficient in using tape measurements and applying shop mathematics to solve problems.
- Detail-oriented and able to multitask within precise limits or standards of accuracy.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
