About the position

The Lead Teller Intern position is designed to identify and develop future supervisors within the teller operations of the Credit Union. This role is ideal for motivated individuals who are eager to advance quickly towards a lead teller position. Interns will be responsible for overseeing teller operations, providing member services, processing loan applications, and supervising staff, all while ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure efficient and effective teller operations are performed according to established policies and standards.
  • Coordinate teller operations by assigning work, monitoring schedules, and tracking employee leave.
  • Assist Service Representatives with complex transactions and member relations problems.
  • Investigate and resolve teller balancing issues, ensuring all tellers balance at the end of each day.
  • Perform teller functions such as receiving deposits and loan payments, and preparing receipts.
  • Maintain inventory of negotiable items and balance the vault.
  • Monitor and ensure the functionality of ATMs and adherence to security procedures.
  • Assist with loan training and related duties as needed.
  • Perform member services functions, including opening new accounts and processing inquiries.
  • Process loan applications, ensuring compliance with lending criteria and documentation requirements.
  • Supervise area personnel, providing leadership and training as needed.
  • Maintain professional business relations with members, resolving inquiries and issues promptly.
  • Establish effective communication with department personnel and management, providing updates on area activities.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Teller at a full service financial institution.
  • Back-up lead teller experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of lending experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of Service Representative operations and procedures.
  • Understanding of Credit Union operations, including account opening and loan processing.
  • Excellent interviewing, communication, public relations, and leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and math skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with consumer and residential lending practices.
  • Knowledge of Credit Union loan services, policies, and procedures.
