About the position

The Greensboro Public Library (GPL) is dedicated to providing free and equal access to information, fostering lifelong learning, and inspiring the joys of reading. Comprising eight library locations and the Greensboro History Museum, we pride ourselves on making a meaningful difference in our community through outstanding service and an enriching library experience. As the Branch Manager of our McGirt-Horton Branch, you will lead a dedicated team in continuing these vital efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations of the McGirt-Horton Branch.
  • Manage public service functions and schedule staff.
  • Evaluate branch programs and services.
  • Shape the library's offerings for children, teens, and adults by developing and assessing programs.
  • Supervise staff, ensuring they are well-supported, trained, and working collaboratively toward library goals.
  • Work the public service desk and answer reference questions.
  • Provide readers advisory and resolve issues related to customers' library accounts.
  • Collaborate on system-wide initiatives as part of the Library's Managers Team.
  • Help manage the branch budget.
  • Engage directly with the community, assess its needs, and respond with creative and impactful solutions.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree with 4-6 years of experience managing a library facility, operations, and distribution of library materials.
  • OR Bachelor's Degree with 8-10 years of experience managing a library facility, operations, and distribution of library materials.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office software 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies (MLIS).
  • Master's Degree in a related field (i.e. Education, Business, etc.).
  • Experience using library ILS (e.g., Horizon).
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience supervising/managing a large youth services program.

  • Hiring Salary Range: $52,021 - $68,449.
  • Full Salary Range: $52,021 - $93,091.
