About the position

The Branch Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bank branch in Pawcatuck, CT, ensuring efficient and courteous customer service delivery. This role involves managing staff performance, conducting training, and maintaining compliance with bank policies and regulations. The Branch Manager also engages with customers regarding various banking products and services, while actively participating in community affairs to enhance the bank's presence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the efficient, effective, and courteous delivery of customer services by assigned staff.
  • Conduct periodic performance reviews for the Branch and provide ongoing counsel, training, development, and motivation.
  • Ensure that the branch staff is informed of Bank policies, procedures, regulatory compliance, and products; conduct periodic meetings to provide updated information.
  • Consult with potential applicants regarding various mortgage products and services.
  • Accurately enter application data into the loan origination system and provide customers with appropriate disclosures and a list of required documentation.
  • Conduct closings for loans secured by real estate that don't require an attorney's attendance.
  • Discuss various consumer loan products with potential applicants.
  • Collect and review all required documentation for underwriting and underwrite the loan if within lending limit.
  • Prepare closing documentation for all unsecured loans and conduct closings for all approved loans.
  • Open all types of deposit accounts and assist customers with any questions or problems on existing accounts.
  • Perform file maintenance of customer account information and process applications for ATM/debit cards, telephone, and online banking.
  • Process all types of customer transactions on deposit accounts, place cash orders, verify, distribute, and balance vault currency and coin.
  • Balance ATM and cash drawer and oversee end-of-day processes including balancing activities and retention of daily work.
  • Develop the Bank's relationship with existing customers and loan applicants, providing counsel and advice within scope of authority.
  • Troubleshoot and reconcile problems and complaints, cross-sell Bank products and services, and refer customers to commercial lenders and investment program representatives.
  • Maintain active participation in community affairs and complete joint calls with assigned commercial lender as part of business development initiatives.
  • Assume overall responsibility for all activities within the branch, set goals and objectives for the branch in conjunction with the Chief Banking Officer.
  • Perform various branch audits and prepare periodic reports of branch activity and goal/objective achievements.
  • Ensure the proper maintenance of branch grounds, facilities, and equipment, oversee the security of branch premises, and prepare monthly security reports for the branch.
  • Respond to night alarm calls as needed.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent training in retail management and lending.
  • At least three years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent management, customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Previous banking experience preferred.
