About the position

The Branch Operations Manager at Southern States Material Handling is responsible for overseeing all branch functions and personnel, ensuring high-quality service operations while maximizing customer satisfaction and maintaining profit margins. This role involves managing day-to-day performance, supervising managers, and leading a team to achieve operational goals in a service-related industry.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all branch operations including service, parts, and sales.
  • Supervise and schedule work for a team of individuals with differing skill levels.
  • Resolve conflicts, coach, and develop team members to promote teamwork and performance management.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and customers, maintaining positive relationships.
  • Analyze and prioritize information to draw accurate conclusions and manage complexities.
  • Coordinate activities among groups with differing agendas across multi-functional areas.
  • Design, implement, and refine systems to optimize performance and manage complex processes.
  • Anticipate human resources needs and manage staffing to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor department goals and ensure high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
  • Oversee verification of staff timecards and service job sheets.
  • Prepare complex statistical and written summary reports for management.
  • Maintain and increase branch profit margins and assist customers with informed equipment decisions.

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of related work experience in a service-related industry preferred.
  • 5-7 years of experience in material handling is a plus.
  • 5 years of management experience preferred.
  • Supervisory experience with 2-6 direct reports preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office Professional and Windows.
  • Strong time management, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of applicable government regulations such as OSHA preferred.
  • High School diploma or GED required; BA/BS in business is a plus.
