About the position

The Branch Operations Lead plays a crucial role in assisting Branch Operations Management with the daily operations of the warehouse. This position is primarily focused on supervising warehouse and delivery associates, ensuring that all activities align with the company's policies and procedures. The Branch Operations Lead dedicates approximately seventy percent of their time to directly supervising a team of five or more associates, fostering a collaborative environment that promotes training and development. This role is essential in maintaining a high level of operational efficiency and safety within the branch. In addition to supervising associates, the Branch Operations Lead is responsible for coordinating with the Assistant Manager and/or Manager to ensure that all warehouse activities are executed smoothly. This includes maintaining the daily workflow for delivery orders, assisting associates during peak business hours, and ensuring that replenishment orders and returned merchandise are processed according to company standards. The Lead also plays a vital role in planning personnel safety and training activities, ensuring that safety procedures are adhered to and making recommendations for improvements. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to maintaining a customer service-oriented philosophy. The Branch Operations Lead must ensure compliance with all branch procedures, serve as a role model for teammates, and report any violations or safety concerns to management. This role also involves maintaining the physical condition of the warehouse and equipment, ensuring that necessary repairs are communicated and executed in a timely manner. The Lead will utilize a company vehicle to deliver products and equipment to customers, emphasizing safety and courtesy in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise five or more associates in warehouse and delivery operations.
  • Participate in training opportunities for teammates and keep current on required training.
  • Coordinate warehouse activities with the Assistant Manager and/or Manager.
  • Assist in learning all functions of Branch Management, including operations, staffing, and budgeting.
  • Maintain daily workflow for delivery orders and assist associates during peak hours.
  • Ensure replenishment orders and returned merchandise are processed according to company standards.
  • Participate in planning personnel safety and training activities.
  • Ensure compliance with safety procedures and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Understand vehicle and workers' compensation reporting and documentation procedures.
  • Serve as a role model for compliance with branch procedures and report violations to management.
  • Maintain a customer service-oriented philosophy in all conduct.
  • Ensure operations procedures are followed for incoming and outgoing shipments and inventory management.
  • Recommend improvements to procedures and inform management of warehouse conditions and equipment needs.
  • Deliver products and equipment to customers using a company vehicle.

Requirements

  • Previous warehouse experience, including leading or planning the work of other teammates.
  • Must meet all applicable state-specific driver's license requirements for driving a company vehicle.
  • Demonstrated self-starter and motivated individual willing to learn new skills.
  • Strong organizational, supervisory, and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to provide direction and instruction to teammates.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operation policies, and work instructions.
  • Ability to solve practical problems in situations with limited standardization.
