About the position

The Curio Wellness Brand Ambassador plays a crucial role in representing Maryland's leading cannabis brand and is instrumental in achieving the company's annual market share growth goals. This position involves regular visits to dispensaries within the assigned territory, where the Brand Ambassador engages with dispensary agents and serves as a reliable resource for product information and the Curio family of brands. Collaborating closely with a dedicated Field Sales Representative, the Brand Ambassador will initiate, organize, and staff various events, including pop-ups, to assist dispensary partners in effectively selling the products available in their inventory. The Brand Ambassador is tasked with developing strategic plans that align with brand objectives and enhance brand awareness in the Maryland market. This includes engaging with both dispensary agents and customers to educate them about Curio's mission, vision, and values, emphasizing the importance of these elements in their cannabis product choices. Additionally, the Brand Ambassador is responsible for ensuring that marketing and merchandising materials are delivered and installed correctly, promoting the Curio Wellness brand and its associated products effectively. Furthermore, the Brand Ambassador will support the Curio Marketing team's initiatives to increase brand visibility at various engagements and events outside of retail locations, such as community centers, industry events, and sponsorship opportunities. This role requires a proactive approach to building relationships within the cannabis community and ensuring that the Curio brand is well-represented and recognized.

Responsibilities

  • Support a Field Sales Representative in their territory by hosting a minimum of 8 pop-ups per month at the dispensaries in the region.
  • Understand a dispensary's inventory position and suggest/organize pop-ups designed to increase sell-through of specific products or product lines.
  • Deliver SWAG to dispensary staff, as needed.
  • Deliver gifts-with-purchase to dispensaries to support promotions, as needed.
  • Conduct bi-weekly visits to each dispensary in the region to deliver and install marketing materials and refresh existing materials, such as brochures, postcards, and stickers.
  • Monitor and correct the use of digital marketing materials and print collateral in-store to ensure compliance with guidelines provided by the CW Marketing Team.
  • Assist dispensary partners with merchandising dummy packaging, printed educational materials, and uploading digital marketing assets to dispensary displays and online menus, upon request.
  • Develop rapport and trust with dispensary management and agents, positioning the Brand Ambassador as an educational resource and trusted expert on cannabis product knowledge.
  • Solicit product feedback from dispensary agents and identify opportunities to offer budtender training or samples to improve staff product knowledge.
  • Schedule and staff a minimum of 8 pop-ups at dispensary locations to meet patients, solicit product feedback, collect email addresses for CW distribution lists, distribute product information, and gifts-with-purchase.
  • Offer quarterly brand training to dispensary staff to ensure understanding of Curio Wellness and its product lines.
  • Observe and communicate new products and market information to the Field Sales Representative.
  • Observe and communicate marketing initiatives by competitor brands to the Marketing Manager, Curio Wellness Brands.
  • Create content and post to a dedicated Instagram account for the CW Brand Ambassador team.
  • Represent Curio Wellness at cannabis industry events and activations, as well as non-cannabis events and activations.
  • Assist with setup and staffing at large-scale, multi-day sponsorship events, such as CFG Arena and/or The Baltimore Marathon.
  • Memorialize dispensary visits and activities in the Field Sales & Marketing CRM.
  • Comply with all HR policies, including confidentiality and non-disclosure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (BA, BS) or equivalent job-related experience.
  • 3+ years experience in cannabis, pharmaceutical, or consumer product goods marketing.
  • Proven ability to build customer and consumer relationships in support of brand and product awareness.
  • Strong presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience with field marketing software or customer relationship management software.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgment, common sense, and resourcefulness.
  • Ability to adapt and thrive in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Personal vehicle and ability to drive to dispensaries in designated territory as well as to HQ weekly for General Sales Meetings.
  • Existing knowledge of the cannabis market preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, particularly verbal, including strong presentation skills.
  • Flexibility in schedule, requiring availability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to handle confidential information and issues using discretion and sound judgment.
