About the position

The Brand Editor at Syneos Health Commercial Solutions is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and quality of written materials in the healthcare communications sector. This role involves collaborating with medical liaisons and reviewing various forms of content to ensure they meet high standards of clarity and compliance with medical and regulatory guidelines. The Brand Editor will also contribute to the development of brand guidelines and perform functionality checks on digital projects.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with medical liaisons to ensure content/claims can be substantiated by supporting clinical studies.
• Review all sources of written materials, fact-checking and verifying correct use of unfamiliar terms while ensuring accuracy of quoted materials.
• Review layouts assessing how copy works with the overall design; check use of appropriate fonts and font sizes against specifications in the copy document; check consistency of spacing, text alignment, line and word breaks.
• Check graphs, charts, and tables for uniformity of style and size, ensuring data are displayed clearly and correctly.
• Write, update, and distribute account-specific brand guidelines, incorporating customer preferences and medical/regulatory/legal requirements.
• Perform functionality checks of digital projects (working links, websites, banner ads, and other digital projects in staging sites).

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in English or journalism or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years' editing experience.
• Ability to apply understanding of brand/disease state to science-based content.
• Excellent grasp of mechanical/layout design and issues.
• High attention to detail using a thorough approach under tight timelines.

Nice-to-haves

• Scientific, medical, pharmaceutical, or technical background.
• Knowledge/familiarity of AMA style.
