About the position

The Breakfast Cook at Hy-Vee Market Grille is responsible for providing excellent customer service while preparing a variety of breakfast foods. This role involves cooking, assembling dishes according to recipes, and ensuring a clean and efficient kitchen environment. The Breakfast Cook plays a vital role in enhancing the customer experience through friendly interactions and quality food preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Prepares various breakfast foods including vegetables, sides, meats, and heat-and-eat varieties.
  • Places food in hot cases, monitors amounts, and refills as necessary.
  • Prepares items for upcoming shifts and ensures personal understanding of all aspects of the kitchen.
  • Maintains cleanliness and sanitation procedures in the work area.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service to customers who call.
  • Works with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Orders product and supplies when necessary or notifies department head of needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction, and record figures accurately.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions.
