Responsibilities

  • Counsels and provides breastfeeding information and support to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
  • Educates clients about the benefits of breastfeeding and helps them overcome common barriers.
  • Assists breastfeeding mothers in preventing and handling common breastfeeding concerns.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality of client information.
  • Keeps accurate records of all contacts made with WIC clients.
  • Travels to other counties within the East Central Health District for community outreach as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 6 months of experience in a related field.
  • Experience breastfeeding at least one baby for a minimum of six months.
  • Current or past participation in the WIC program.
  • Enthusiasm for breastfeeding and a desire to help other mothers.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver's license.
  • Good customer service skills and ability to communicate professionally with diverse populations.
