About the position

The Brewery Operations Manager at Big Lug Brewery is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the brewery in Indianapolis. This role focuses on ensuring efficient production and distribution processes, maintaining quality control, managing inventory, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The manager will work closely with the brewing team and logistics to deliver high-quality products to customers while leading and motivating the brewery staff.

Responsibilities

  • Weekly scheduling
  • Communicating between brewery and logistics team
  • Manage inventory in software system and ensure adequate supplies of raw materials and finished products
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with distributors and manufacturers
  • Work alongside Head Brewer to create efficient brew schedule and weekly brewery tasks
  • Assist the team with brewing beer at two different locations
  • Train Front of House team on beer and keep the Hospitality Group informed about new beers
  • Assist sales team in achieving sales goals and developing relationships with both off site and on site clients
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, including health and safety standards
  • Maintain high standards of quality control and ensure that all products meet our exacting standards by managing routine maintenance
  • Manage a team of brewery staff, providing leadership, guidance, and support as needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in brewery operations
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Comfortable with computer systems and willingness to learn new software
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Valid Driver license and Liquor Service Permit
  • At least 21 years of age
  • Ability to stand 8 hours per day and team lift up to 165lbs

Nice-to-haves

  • Forklift license
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience with craft brewing and/or specialty beers
  • Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
