About the position

The Bridge CAD Designer at AtkinsRéalis will play a crucial role in the design and engineering of transportation-related structural projects across the United States. This position involves working on significant infrastructure projects, contributing to the conceptual and final design phases, and ensuring compliance with client requests and governmental codes. The successful candidate will utilize CAD software to create detailed designs and will coordinate with junior designers and technicians to oversee project completion.

Responsibilities

• Plans, schedules, conducts or coordinates detailed phases of engineering work in major projects.
• Involves conceptual and final design of utilities, grading, pavement and drainage, electrical diagrams, or mechanical details for structures or bridges.
• Researches, recommends, and presents alternate design approaches based on client requests and governmental code requirements.
• Performs and supervises designs utilizing CAD.
• Coordinates, monitors, and oversees design completion, permit applications, material quantities, and cost estimates performed by junior designers and technicians.
• Assists junior professionals in making design decisions.
• May write specifications, feasibility studies, plans, and preliminary reports.
• Organizes or directs field visits to collect data or resolve design conflicts.
• May train less experienced junior professionals, designers, and CAD technicians.

Requirements

• College degree in a related technical field.
• CAD training required.
• 3-6+ years of experience with bridge design.
• Proficiency in CAD software.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• TxDOT experience is required.
