About the position
The Bridge Designer I position at PRIME AE Group, Inc. is an entry-level role focused on various aspects of bridge engineering. The primary function involves working on bridge design projects, including single and multi-span bridges, culverts, and related structures. Responsibilities
- Work with standard bridge engineering/design procedures.
- Develop structural details using specialized structural design and analysis software.
- Perform structural load calculations and assist with geometric layout and quantity development.
- Perform design calculations, estimates, and specifications.
- Develop plan and details/layouts using CAD, quantity take offs, and technical report writing.
- Perform design and analysis of new and existing bridges, including rehabilitation design for transportation projects.
- Participate in bridge condition inspections and inspection report preparation.
- Perform bridge load ratings.
- Perform construction engineering demo/erections calculations, temporary shoring, and falsework.
- Review shop drawings.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering, or related field.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certification.
- 0-3 years' experience preferred in bridge design projects.
- Experience with PennDOT and/or PA Turnpike projects preferred.
- Experience with PennDOT Design programs preferred.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation preferred.
- Valid driver's license required.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
