About the position

KPFF is seeking a Structural Engineer for its Los Angeles office, focusing on infrastructure projects such as bridges and waterfront structures. The role emphasizes engineering excellence, design, and project management, providing opportunities for collaboration and professional growth within a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work on structural design for infrastructure projects including bridges and waterfront infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with public and private clients throughout planning, design, permitting, and construction phases.
  • Prepare structural engineering documents and specifications for various projects.
  • Engage dynamically with clients and project team members.
  • Participate in educational events and technical training to enhance skills.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4-6 years of structural design experience with a PE in California or ability to obtain reciprocity.
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis; M.S. preferred.
  • EIT certification required.
  • Experience in bridge design and coursework in concrete, steel, and timber.
  • Familiarity with pre-stressed concrete and seismic design principles.
  • Knowledge of AASHTO, ASCE7, ASCE61-14, IBC, AISC, ACI, and NDS standards.
  • Proficiency in SAP2000, L-Pile, CSI Bridge, MS Excel, and VBA.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with performance-based seismic design and non-linear push-over analysis.
  • Interest in a variety of non-building related project types.
