About The Position

The Bridge Engineer (Project Engineer) position is part of the Highway Engineering Division of Elkhart County. The role involves designing bridge infrastructure improvement projects, serving as project manager for assigned projects, and supervising assigned staff and consultants. The position is a professional role that requires a commitment to excellence in engineering practices and project management.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or equivalent field of study.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a professional engineering license.
• Ability to properly operate computer aided design programs and geographic information systems software.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills.
• Sound knowledge of office procedures and practices.
• Ability to read/interpret detailed prints, sketches, layouts, specifications, and maps.
• Prepare detailed reports, such as financial statements and product feasibility.
• Pre-employment background check.
