About the position

The Bridge Engineer position at Whitman, Requardt & Associates, LLP involves working within a multi-disciplinary team to develop bridge and structural plans for transportation projects. The role focuses on designing, inspecting, and providing support for various bridge structures, contributing to the improvement of infrastructure in Texas.

Responsibilities

• Prepare designs and contract documents for the repair or replacement of various types of bridge structures.
• Provide support during construction by reviewing shop drawings.
• Perform field inspections of highway bridges and document defects.
• Prepare reports and complete computations to calculate load ratings of various bridge types.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering; master's degree preferred.
• 4 - 9 years of relevant experience required.
• Desire relevant internship experience.
• Ability to work independently and in a design group setting.
• PE Certification in Texas or ability to obtain certification within one year.
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO bridge specifications.
• Experience with a variety of bridge design software.
• Hands-on experience with MicroStation/GEOPAK/Open Bridge software.
• Positive attitude and willingness to work cooperatively with others.
• Exceptional communication and organization skills.

Nice-to-haves

• NBIS Inspection Certification preferred.
