About the position

WSP is seeking a Bridge Inspection - Structural Engineer to join their Structures Bridge Design team in New England. This role involves working on various project development and design tasks related to bridge inspection, rehabilitation, and construction. The position emphasizes technical assistance, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and adherence to ethical decision-making in engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Bridge Design team on project development and design tasks.
  • Provide technical assistance for inspections, rehabilitation, and load rating of existing bridges and structures.
  • Assist in developing plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
  • Generate accurate reports and documentation regarding materials and construction specifications.
  • Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
  • Learn basic principles of bridge and transportation engineering.
  • Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
  • Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
  • Maintain project documentation and complete training on assigned tasks.
  • Exercise responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, or closely related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in bridge inspection or design.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Demonstrated interest in structures and transportation fields.
  • Competent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing and office automation tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety policies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
