About the position

The Bridge Project Engineer/Manager will be responsible for overseeing bridge structural design projects, managing project development, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and specifications. This role requires a self-motivated individual with a strong background in civil engineering and project management, who is eager to contribute to a team-oriented environment and take on increased responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for structural design, plan development, public presentation, specification writing, drainage calculations, quantity calculations, cost estimating, utility coordination, permitting, technical report writing, and performing bridge inspections.
  • Supervise all aspects of project development, environmental permitting, and utility coordination.
  • Design, inspect and evaluate structural elements, materials, and engineering methodology used in the design of bridges and structures.
  • Safely conduct inspections and prepare and review scoping and inspection reports and studies for INDOT, local public agencies and private sector clients.
  • Manage projects while directing, mentoring and supervising other engineers in the preparation of calculations, plans, specifications, contract documents, technical reports and cost estimates.
  • Interact with team members and clients for the successful management of projects from conception through completion.
  • Assist in business development activities, including proposals and client interactions and the recruitment of new talent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural emphasis from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensed professional engineer in the State of Indiana.
  • At least 5 years of consulting engineering experience with a demonstrated working knowledge of INDOT Design Manual standards, specifications, and procedures.
  • Experience with bridge and structural design software, Autodesk Civil 3D, and the Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work well individually and as part of a team.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering is a plus.
  • Demonstrated experience with structural engineering.
