About the position

Freese and Nichols is seeking an experienced Bridge Engineer to perform PS&E bridge design, particularly for projects involving the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The role involves leading bridge design efforts, ensuring quality control, and providing technical guidance to junior engineers. The position offers flexibility in office location, with a preference for major Texas cities.

Responsibilities

• Performing the role of Bridge Engineer for PS&E projects following FNI processes and coordinating designs with project teams.
• Coordinating with multiple disciplines as needed to design bridge projects.
• Collaborating with the bridge engineering team to ensure continuity, consistency, and quality.
• Reviewing internal and external bridge PS&E plans and documents for compliance with federal, state, and local design requirements.
• Providing technical training for FNI staff in bridge design processes for developing high quality calculations, details, and submittals.
• Collaborating with internal stakeholders to develop high quality plans and production documents.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineer Registration in Texas
• 3+ years' experience in TxDOT bridge design
• Strong understanding of bridge engineering principles, construction techniques, and quality control standards
• Excellent communication and coordination skills for engaging with project teams and clients.

Nice-to-haves

• In-depth knowledge of TxDOT procedures, regulations, and documentation requirements for bridge PS&E.
