About the position

The Bridge Services Representative 6-E7 position at the Blue Water Bridge is a limited-term role responsible for managing the classification of vehicles at an international border crossing. This role involves handling financial transactions, providing exceptional customer service, and assisting with various operational duties. The position requires flexibility in scheduling, including the possibility of working weekends and holidays, and may last up to two years with potential for extension or permanent placement.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately classify passenger and commercial vehicles using a point-of-sale terminal.
  • Collect United States and Canadian currency, make proper change, and perform simple math calculations.
  • Balance collected revenue and review automated revenue processes.
  • Assist with the issuance of toll fare media and respond to customer inquiries in person, via phone, and email.
  • Perform routine maintenance and technology maintenance as needed.
  • Provide toll operations assistance to maintenance, emergency, and law enforcement personnel.
  • Resolve commuter concerns and provide exceptional customer service.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent education.
  • For E7 level: One year of experience equivalent to a Bridge Services Representative 6, or completion of at least 8 semester hours in relevant fields may substitute for experience.
  • Two years of experience in a customer service position focused on processing financial transactions may substitute for experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in handling point-of-sale transactions.
  • Familiarity with customs regulations and border crossing procedures.
