About the position

The Bridge Software Development Technical Manager II at Michael Baker International will lead the advancement of innovative technologies for bridge engineering, including BIM, software development, and automation. This role involves managing projects, developing engineering automation tools, and collaborating with various teams to enhance client solutions and modernize applications. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong communication and management skills, dedicated to delivering exceptional results in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering automation tools and model-based workflows for bridge engineering tasks.
  • Provide automation solutions for large scale and complex projects.
  • Collaborate on business development activities for customized application development.
  • Assist in interoperability and data exchange investigations including BIM-GIS integration.
  • Perform software development coding for debugging and enhancement of existing software.
  • Assist in task leadership and execution of key technology initiatives.
  • Serve as technical manager and lead for bridge technology initiatives.
  • Adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget while delivering exceptional results.
  • Prepare project status reports and manage software revision releases.
  • Prepare technical and cost proposals to win work.
  • Represent the company at professional conferences and trade shows.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or similar; Master's degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of structural software development experience, particularly with highway bridges.
  • Pennsylvania P.E. or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Highway bridge structural engineering background with finite element analysis experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage software development projects.
  • Expertise in IFC data exchange, BIM, and digital twins.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3D modeling, BIM, and digital twin development experience.
  • Software modernization experience.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as VB.NET and Matlab.
  • Finite element engine programming experience.
  • Domain design using OOP.
  • GUI design experience.
  • OpenGL or general computer graphics knowledge.
