About the position

Kleinfelder is seeking a talented Bridge Structural Engineer to join our team in Boston, Massachusetts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on challenging transportation projects throughout the New England region. As a Bridge Engineer, you will be responsible for performing engineering tasks in the transportation and structural engineering field, applying relevant design criteria, standards, and processes to ensure the successful completion of projects. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers and professionals, contributing to the design and analysis of various transportation structures, including bridges, culverts, and walls. In this role, you will develop detailed plans for new transportation-related structures and oversee the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of existing bridges and culverts. Utilizing CADD and engineering software, you will prepare structural design calculations in accordance with applicable design standards and agency preferences. Your expertise will be crucial in performing structural analysis of both new designs and existing structures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices. Additionally, you will prepare construction cost estimates and specifications for various types of transportation projects, playing a key role in the project lifecycle from conception to execution. Responsibilities

  • Develop plan details for new transportation related structures and bridge/culvert maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement projects using CADD and engineering software
  • Prepare structural design calculations in accordance with applicable design standards and agency preferences
  • Perform structural analysis of new designs and existing structures (bridges and other transportation structures) using various bridge design software programs
  • Prepare construction cost estimates and specifications for various types of transportation projects

Requirements

  • BSCE from an ABET accredited engineering program (MSCE preferred)
  • A minimum of 3-6 years of relevant design experience in the structural engineering field
  • PE license (preferred)
  • New England DOT bridge design experience required
  • Familiarity with AASHTO, and NEstateDOT standards required
  • Experience performing design and analysis of transportation structures including bridges, culverts, walls, and sign structures
  • Experience with design software (general purpose structural analysis software experience required)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, project managers, supervisors, and other team members
