About the position

The Broadcast Engineering and Production Manager will oversee the planning and successful implementation of all technical needs for the venue and events. This role is crucial in ensuring that all broadcast and A/V production requirements are met for various events held at the venue. The manager will assist with and execute assigned engineering or production services in a multi-functional broadcast, radio, and emerging media environment. This includes setting up and providing support for all broadcast and A/V production requirements for all venue events, maintaining and supporting all broadcast and A/V production systems throughout the venue, and serving as the department Manager on Duty for assigned events. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Broadcast Engineering and Production Manager will assist with the training of technical personnel, including part-time event staff and event operations. The role may also involve providing support for social media systems and assisting with documentation for venue equipment and resources, including inventory and cable/fiber maps. Collaboration with Event Managers and other departments is essential to ensure that all event requirements are met. The manager will also perform other related tasks as required, which may include incidental tasks related to Event Production/Services. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively in dynamic situations. The manager must be highly organized, attentive to detail, and a creative problem solver who can work collaboratively with a team. The role demands availability to work non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to meet the needs of the events held at the venue.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with and execute assigned engineering or production services in the multi-functional broadcast, radio and emerging media environment.
  • Set-up and provide support for all broadcast and A/V production requirements for all venue events.
  • Maintain and support all broadcast & A/V production systems throughout the venue.
  • Serve as department Manager on Duty for assigned events.
  • Assist with training of technical personnel including part time event staff and event operations.
  • May be asked to provide support for social media systems.
  • Assist with documentation for venue equipment and resources including inventory and cable/fiber maps.
  • Work with Event Managers and other departments to ensure all event requirements are met.
  • Perform other related tasks as required (incidental tasks related to the position or Event Production/Services).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization preferred.
  • Minimum three years of relevant experience.
  • Good working knowledge of the principles, terminology, tools and equipment utilized in arena production/broadcast engineering and television.
  • Solid understanding of IT and all its principles, especially network security, life-cycle asset management, database management, and user account administration.
  • Good working knowledge of broadcast and A/V production systems design.
  • Strong working knowledge of concert, sporting and related event production.
  • Understanding of automation in the context of television network operations.
  • Understanding of satellite uplink transmission and downlink conditional access.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, appropriately, and succinctly in dynamic situations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, make quick decisions, and execute resolutions quickly in dynamic situations.
  • Highly organized and attentive to detail, creative problem solver, team player and collaborator.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with social media systems support.
