About the position

YouTube TV is an Over-the-Top (OTT) streaming service that provides live TV and video-on-demand over the internet to various devices including phones, tablets, computers, and smart TVs. This service complements YouTube's core ad-supported video-on-demand (AVOD) model by adding live sports, news, and local and premium content at a more affordable price compared to traditional cable. Despite being only six years old, YouTube TV has already achieved billions in annual revenue and has millions of subscribers. The platform has also introduced features like Primetime Channels and the National Football League (NFL) Sunday Ticket, with ongoing plans for international expansion and new product offerings. In this role, the Broadcast Specialist will manage the Network Operations Center (NOC) responsible for acquiring live and linear TV signals for YouTube's products, including YouTube TV and Sports. The position involves close collaboration with the NOC Lead to enhance and innovate NOC operations. The specialist will also oversee vendor engagement, managing a team of over 50 individuals employed by the vendor. This position is critical in ensuring the seamless delivery of live content to YouTube's audience, requiring a blend of technical expertise and operational management skills. Responsibilities

  • Manage the Network Operations Center (NOC) for acquiring live and linear TV signals for YouTube's products like YouTube TV and Sports.
  • Work in close partnership with the NOC Lead to run, improve, and innovate the NOC Operations.
  • Manage vendor engagement, overseeing a team of more than 50 individuals employed by the vendor.

Requirements

  • Experience running a broadcast operation.
  • Experience reporting metrics and performance to identify areas of opportunity.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, testing and commissioning of systems, and launching new signal chains.

  • Experience working in a matrixed environment, influencing cross-functional and technical teams, and communicating technical concepts to business stakeholders.
