About the position

We are seeking a talented freelance Content Writer to help us on our journey to becoming America's leading small business insurer. As a Content Writer, you will play a pivotal role in creating compelling content that effectively communicates our products, services, and brand messages to our audience of insurance brokers. In this capacity, you will collaborate closely with the marketing team, product heads, underwriting, claims, and internal stakeholders to generate content that will help attract, retain, and grow strong broker relationships. The successful candidate will have a passion for valuable, relevant, and consistent content, as well as a talent for creating messaging that highlights the unique propositions of our insurance products and services. Critical thinking, multitasking, and excellent writing, spelling, and grammar skills are essential to the role. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with product heads, underwriters, claims, and internal stakeholders to assess project needs and create content aligned with departmental strategies. You will develop high-quality written content for various channels such as brochures and sales sheets to help educate brokers on our unique products and services. Additionally, you will create content that complements our value proposition, engages brokers, and compels them to regard Hiscox as a trusted voice in the small business space. You will also collaborate with the design team to integrate visual elements into the content when necessary, ensure high editorial standards and Hiscox brand voice are met across all content outputs, and support the email marketing team to deliver content for broker email communications.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product heads, underwriters, claims, and internal stakeholders to assess project needs and create content aligned with departmental strategies.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years' professional writing experience in marketing communications, brand management and/or writing for a creative agency.
  • A working knowledge of content marketing principles, practices, and techniques.
  • A demonstrated ability to write concise and compelling content for diverse audiences and diverse platforms.
  • A deep understanding of content strategies targeted for broker audience.
  • Familiarity with the competitive landscape for insurance brokers.
  • An eagle eye for grammatical and spelling errors.
  • A collaborative mindset, active listening skills and a desire to learn and grow.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to write in a variety of voices and tones- and to bring a fresh perspective to recurring assignments and topics.
  • Familiarity with AP style and SEO practices.
  • Proven follow-through and the ability to communicate with professionalism at all levels inside and outside of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English or related field preferred.
  • Previous work in a corporate environment or agency preferred.
