The position also involves quality assurance and quality control for technical projects, requiring extensive interaction with agency management, governmental officials, and private entities. The Technical Project Manager will serve as a project leader and coordinator, taking direct accountability for the work product and ensuring that all project objectives are met. Essential duties include leading and coordinating oversight of multiple technical projects, creating documentation procedures for project changes, directing project budgets and schedules, identifying potential project risks, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate oversight of multiple technical projects.
  • Create documentation procedures to capture and manage changes in the original project plan.
  • Direct, develop, implement, and evaluate project budgets, schedules, work plans, resource requirements, and cost estimates.
  • Identify potential project impediments, risks, and issues; design strategies to mitigate or avoid them.
  • Inspect construction methods, workmanship, and maintenance procedures to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Monitor and manage project cost and quality to ensure completion within budget and acceptable deliverables.
  • Oversee construction project assignments and coordinate scheduling to accommodate ongoing projects.
  • Provide technical assistance in resolving construction problems related to contract administration.
  • Assist in engineering-related data collection, inspections, assessments, and analysis for plan development.
  • Serve as a liaison and division contact in area of expertise, representing the division at state and local levels.
  • Train professional and technical staff.
  • Work with Federal Highway Administration representatives to ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related discipline.
  • 5 years of experience in construction project management, project management, process engineering, or business process improvement methodologies.
  • Valid driver's license.
