About the position
The Science Instructor at Bryan Station Middle School is responsible for teaching middle school science to students, fostering their development into mature and responsible individuals. The instructor will create a conducive learning environment, plan engaging lessons, assess student progress, and maintain classroom order while adhering to district educational philosophies and policies.
Responsibilities
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in designated locations and times.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of students.
- Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate to students' maturity and interests.
- Prepares for classes and provides written evidence of preparation upon request.
- Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward achieving curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for lessons.
- Employs a variety of instructional techniques and media to meet the needs of students.
- Implements the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals.
- Assesses student accomplishments regularly and provides progress reports.
- Diagnoses learning disabilities and seeks assistance from district specialists as needed.
- Takes precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
- Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student conduct.
- Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and maintains order fairly.
- Makes provisions for availability to students and parents outside instructional hours.
- Plans and supervises assignments for instructional aides and volunteers, evaluating their performance.
- Maintains and improves professional competence through attendance at meetings and committees.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in field of assignment (minimum requirement).
- Valid Kentucky Teaching Certification for area and grade level of assignment.
