About the position

The Foreperson is responsible for coordinating crew members, equipment, tools, and supplies to ensure that all jobs are completed according to contract specifications. This role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and effective communication with property owners and crew members while managing vegetation management tasks such as tree trimming and removal.

Responsibilities

  • Direct crew members and manage equipment each day.
  • Assign specific tasks to crew members and supervise performance.
  • Plan and execute the assigned work and tasks in a safe and professional manner.
  • Organize job assignments to ensure efficient completion of work.
  • Notify property owners of presence on property and obtain necessary permissions.
  • Ensure crew members wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety practices.
  • Trim and/or remove trees using various tools and equipment.
  • Spray stumps and brush to prevent further growth.
  • Load and unload trucks with logs, stumps, and debris.
  • Designate break and lunch times for crew members.
  • Direct cleanup of the job site and secure all equipment and supplies.
  • Inspect work performed to ensure it meets job specifications.
  • Keep accurate records of time, equipment, and materials used.
  • Complete daily truck inspections and conduct job briefings as required.
  • Restock needed supplies on the truck and perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Determine actions to take in emergency situations to eliminate hazards.
  • Perform duties for storm work as needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Driver's License required.
  • Mechanical knowledge is essential.
  • Prior experience in electric utility vegetation management, construction, logging, landscaping, mechanical, or military industries preferred.
  • Ability to follow verbal or written directives.
  • Ability to delegate work and take accountability for crew performance.
  • Understanding of drawings and symbols representing lines and equipment.
  • Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
  • Must obtain and maintain first-aid certification and CPR.
