About the position
The Bucket Operator is responsible for assisting in the clearing and removal of trees along electrical power lines and right-of-ways. This role involves operating an aerial lift device (bucket truck) to reach branches that interfere with electric lines, ensuring safety and efficiency in line clearance services.
Responsibilities
- Plans, assigns, directs, checks, and coordinates work.
- Obtains permission from property owners to trim or remove trees.
- Promotes and maintains good customer and public relations.
- Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
- Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
- Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, and markers to protect employees and the public.
- Responsible for quality and quantity of production while following safe practices.
- Operates and services equipment such as gasoline, hydraulic tools, power saws, and chippers.
- Operates a bucket near energized lines to remove branches and tree material.
- Performs tree and bucket rescue.
- Uses hand tools such as axes, saws, and pruners.
- Cleans up and disposes of all debris.
- Sprays brush and stumps with herbicides.
- Trains new personnel.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Familiarity with electrical hazards.
- Working knowledge to identify tree and shrub species.
- Physical energy, twisting, some lifting ability, and hand-to-eye coordination.
Nice-to-haves
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 1+ year of related industry experience required.
