About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the Office of School Financial Services is responsible for managing and analyzing financial data related to school funding. This role involves program administration, compliance verification, and extensive reporting for funds allocated to sub-grantees from the Louisiana Department of Education. The position may be filled at different levels (1, 2, or 3) based on the candidate's experience, with responsibilities increasing in complexity at higher levels.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and forecast revenues and expenditures to identify trends and potential funding problems.
• Prepare required reports and financial statements, including data compilation and analysis.
• Propose alternatives to spending and revisions in authorized budgets.
• Review, project, report, and propose changes to performance indicators.
• Prepare budget adjustment forms as necessary to draw or transfer funds.

Requirements

• A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field may substitute for the required degree.
• Ability to manage budgets effectively and be a good steward of state resources.
• Proficiency in using relevant data to inform recommendations for action.
• Experience working with financial information to convey organizational financial standing.
• Ability to accept and follow directions from superiors.
