About the position

The Budget Analyst 1 position at the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is a full-time role focused on financial reporting and budget analysis within the Southcoast Region. The analyst will collaborate with leadership to ensure accurate tracking of performance initiatives and will be responsible for developing the region's annual operating budget. This role involves implementing new software systems, analyzing budget data, and ensuring proper tracking of emergency response spending.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Administrative Operations Manager to analyze spending and monitor budgets.
  • Deliver accurate monthly and quarterly financial reports.
  • Develop and refine the region's annual operating budget.
  • Implement new software systems like Agile Assets and train new hires on their usage.
  • Gather, consolidate, and analyze budget data for legislative and budgetary inquiries.
  • Ensure emergency response spending is properly tracked and coded.

Requirements

  • Two years of technical level experience in accounting, budget, finance, or a similar field.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted auditing standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of budget administration principles and practices.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
