About the position

The Budget Analyst 4 (BA4) position at the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the management and oversight of the statewide forest practices program. Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and monitor statewide programmatic budget
  • Manage operating and capital budgets for the Forest Regulation Division
  • Provide budget analysis, allotment allocations, monitoring, and contract/grant funding coordination
  • Support the development and submittal of deliverables and operating budgets
  • Provide consultative planning and analysis services
  • Coordinate legislative bills and fiscal notes

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in business, public administration, accounting, economics, statistics, or relevant field; AND five years of recent professional experience in budgets, management or program analysis; OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Experience with design, building, and administration of project libraries, lists, and toolkit platforms such as Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting an environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and environmental justice practices.
  • Perform assigned duties in a manner consistent with applicable laws, regulations and public records retention and requests are followed.

Nice-to-haves

  • A master's degree in accounting, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a similar field; AND two (2) years of recent professional experience managing large budgets and data sets.
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively working independently under general supervision.
  • Experience in effectively applying and adapting established accounting methods to a variety of payable and accounting transactions.
  • Experience in effectively analyzing, monitoring, and evaluating accounting activities.
  • Experience in effectively building complex spreadsheets and visualization tools to ensure accuracy, tracking, and understanding of data and metrics.
