About the position

The Budget Analyst responsibilities include monitoring general ledger and budgetary activity to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the data. Notifying campus units of unresolved available balance and fund balance deficits, assisting with corrections as needed. Researching special general ledger and budgetary issues. Producing specialized reports for administration as needed. Supporting campus users with budgetary issues. Assisting with the production of training materials and job aids, as well as assisting with related budget training sessions. Assisting with the development of the University's operating budget submission. Collecting, analyzing, editing, and reporting financial data to the Board of Governors and responding to reporting requests from other FSU departments. Establishing and maintaining departments in OMNI Financials, including assigning appropriate reporting attributes and departmental personnel. Reviewing and approving access requests from department personnel to ensure proper assignment of departmental security. Posting transfers to and from the University Reserves as directed. Providing administrative support to the office as needed in the areas of ledger reconciliation, purchasing, travel, human resources, payroll, property control, card access activities, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and one year experience or a high school diploma or equivalent and five years of experience.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective customer service skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
  • Ability to review and reconcile data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications, specifically Outlook and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience preparing and monitoring budget information.
  • Experience with financial enterprise resource planning systems, such as PeopleSoft/OMNI or comparable systems.
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive Planning budgeting solution.
