About the position

The Budget Analyst at Center for Family Services plays a crucial role in managing the organization's financial health by tracking and analyzing revenue and expenses. This position requires expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis, with a focus on providing accurate financial reporting and supporting program budgets. The analyst will work closely with the Director of Finance and other supervisors to ensure that financial operations align with the agency's goals and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Track and analyze revenue and expenses by program at the fund source level on a monthly basis.
  • Prepare and monitor financial forecasts to ensure expenditures are within budget constraints.
  • Accurately record, classify, and reconcile transactions by account.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring appropriate fiscal policies and procedures suitable to the program and agency budgetary needs.
  • Prepare journal entries and funding allocation modifications as needed.
  • Conduct budget vs. actual variance analyses and investigate anomalies or unexplained variances.
  • Provide outstanding customer service in all agency interactions and communicate effectively with staff and funding sources.
  • Participate in continuing professional development opportunities and demonstrate a commitment to ethical behavior.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field (preferred) or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5 years of experience working with budgets and expense reports.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office software, particularly intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
  • Demonstrated experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Knowledge of Blackbaud Accounting software is a plus.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a non-profit financial environment.
  • Familiarity with financial tracking and reporting tools.
