About the position

The Budget Analyst position at Webb County's Business Office is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining the annual budgets for the county. This role involves organizing finances, preparing budget reports, and ensuring that institutional spending aligns with set budgets. The analyst will work closely with management to provide evidence-based recommendations and assist in budget amendments throughout the fiscal year.

Responsibilities

• Develop organizational budget with manager and budget officer.
• Consolidate organizational budget for review.
• Monitor spending and keep departments within set budgets.
• Prepare reports and estimate future financial needs.
• Defend budget recommendations with data and evidence-based analysis.
• Assist with budget amendments throughout the fiscal year.
• Participate in budget development within departments and between divisions or programs and develop documentation for budget adjustment requests.
• Develop and maintain databases, spreadsheets, and related management systems for budget development and administration.
• Perform financial analysis and make recommendations; develop forms and systems; assist in identifying financial system problems.
• Review all work for completeness.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in budgeting or related field.
• Proficiency in English and Spanish for communication.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
• Experience with financial analysis and reporting.
• Valid Texas Driver's License.
