About the position

The Budget Analyst I position at Wake Forest University serves as a financial analyst for the Reynolda Campus, providing essential administrative support to the Budget and Financial Planning office. The role involves day-to-day budget responsibilities, including reviewing fund availability and conducting data analysis to support financial decision-making. The analyst will also assist in the preparation and training for the annual budget cycle using Workday and Adaptive Planning, while collaborating with various departments on financial projects.

Responsibilities

  • Validate budget availability for Workday transactions related to Human Capital Management or Financial processes.
  • Approve transactions and track data related to expenses, collaborating with business managers, HR, payroll, or finance to resolve issues.
  • Assist the Budget and Financial Planning team with financial projects and analyses for senior management.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert for Workday and Adaptive Planning during the annual budget and planning cycle.
  • Provide training to campus users on developing and submitting budgets and forecasts in Workday Adaptive Planning.
  • Conduct information research and analysis for benchmarking exercises and presentations.
  • Develop presentations for executive and departmental meetings.
  • Coordinate day-to-day office activities, including scheduling meetings and processing invoices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • 1-2 years of progressively responsible financial work experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets, including template development and pivot tables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Knowledge of fund accounting principles and budget preparation.
  • Experience in budgeting or strategic planning in an academic environment.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets.
