About the position

The Budget Analyst I position at Catholic Charities of Brooklyn and Queens involves financial management of assigned programs and contracts under the supervision of the Assistant Budget Director I. The role focuses on providing accurate financial reports, monitoring expenses, and ensuring compliance with funding requirements while supporting the agency's mission and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Submits accurate and timely claims to funding sources.
  • Provides Quarterly Budget vs. Actual Reports with an explanation of variances.
  • Maintains contract files, budget files, and funding source correspondences.
  • Reconciles and performs grant closeout functions required by contracts administration and sponsors.
  • Monitors program expenses and revenue billings against approved budget and develops budget modifications if necessary.
  • Ensures all requirements by contracts administration and funders are met during the grant closeout process, including submitting quarterly, semi-annual, or annual reports.
  • Collaborates with program staff to forecast budgets.
  • Compiles and analyzes accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement a program.
  • Prepares ad-hoc reports for budget analysis.
  • Ensures adherence to guidelines and policies as well as monitors the financial and programmatic status of assigned accounts.
  • Prepares schedules and reconciliations as required for the program and annual audit.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • A minimum of 2 years related experience required; financial management experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of programmatic and fiscal requirements of a wide variety of public funding sources and regulatory agencies required.
  • Mastery of Excel spreadsheet development, manipulation, and ability to learn the accounting software (currently Netsuite) is essential.
  • Ability to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs as needed.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
