About the position

The Budget Analyst II position within Corporate Business Operations is responsible for providing complex professional and technical support to the financial, budgeting, and administration functions of assigned programs or operations. This role involves budget preparation, analysis, and reporting for County-wide budgeting functions, as well as supporting various administrative functions within the assigned division.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as lead worker to lower-level analysts and assists the Director with complex research and analysis assignments.
  • Prepares and collects comprehensive information for the creation of the County budget, including research, data collection, analysis, and synthesis of information.
  • Analyzes and recommends departmental funding levels, monitors final cash positions, and calculates cash remaining from previous years for budgeting.
  • Provides training, guidance, and consultation regarding budget requests and negotiates budget submissions with Division Directors and Department Heads.
  • Participates in presenting budget recommendations to the County Manager and the Board of County Commissioners, conducting additional research as needed.
  • Administers, amends, and executes the adopted budget, prepares the annual budget book, and reconciles the accounting system to the approved budget.
  • Monitors expenditures and revenues, performance measures, and approves control budget amendments to ensure compliance with financial policies.
  • Performs operational research, productivity analyses, and management studies, developing recommendations for changes in County policies and procedures.
  • Prepares and maintains a variety of financial and statistical reports related to the budget and the financial status of the County, including quarterly financial reports and executive summaries.
  • Serves as an advisor to managers and Department Heads regarding budget issues, preparing reports and presentations for the County Commissioners and Manager.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience in budget preparation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.

Benefits

  • Full-time position with a salary range of $66,268 - $72,894 per year.
