About the position

The Davidson Honors College and the Office of the Provost at the University of Montana are seeking a Budget Analyst II to provide essential financial support across various departments, including the Global Leadership Office, the NAGPRA Coordinator, and the Co-Lab for Civic Imagination. This role is pivotal in ensuring effective budget management and reporting, which are crucial for supporting the diverse and strategic objectives of these areas. The Budget Analyst II will be responsible for understanding the financial needs of these departments and will play a key role in facilitating their operations through accurate financial oversight and reporting. In this position, the Budget Analyst II will enter payroll data, manage procard transactions, and process various business transactions such as service agreements and software purchases. The role also involves reconciling budgets, resolving discrepancies, and providing regular financial reports to directors to aid in planning and decision-making. Additionally, the analyst will assist in annual budget planning and help faculty with financial forms for new program proposals, acting as a liaison between departments and HR/Business Services. This position requires a high level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain confidentiality while working independently. Responsibilities

  • Enter payroll data accurately and on time.
  • Submit hiring and recruitment paperwork.
  • Manage and track procard transactions, ensuring compliance with university policies.
  • Process business transactions such as service agreements, software purchases, deposits, and check requests.
  • Reconcile budgets and resolve discrepancies.
  • Provide regular financial reports for directors to support planning and decision-making.
  • Manage office financial records.
  • Assist directors with annual budget planning.
  • Help faculty with financial forms for new program proposals.
  • Act as a liaison between departments and HR/Business Services.
  • Assist center directors with developing their budgets for annual center review.
  • Assist faculty members with Board of Regents' Fiscal Analysis Forms for new program proposals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma and two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 suite of productivity tools.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of professional budget management practices and accounting principles.
  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated organizational, time-management, multi-tasking skills, problem-solving and ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, computer science, mathematics or related field and two (2) years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
