About the position

The Budget Analyst II position at NASA Johnson Wichita Tribal Enterprises involves examining operating budgets to ensure appropriate fund allocation. The role includes maintaining trend data, preparing reports and forecasts, and assisting in legislative appropriations requests. The analyst will integrate business and financial management processes to ensure efficient stewardship of public funds, working primarily in a hybrid environment with a focus on government contracting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, analyzes, and submits the quarterly reconciliation and quarterly FTE reports.
  • Researches and compiles data for financial reporting.
  • Reviews and maintains financial reports required for month-end and year-end close.
  • Provides guidance to other Budget Analysts as necessary.
  • Identifies, researches, and resolves budget discrepancies related to financials and personnel.
  • Advises and assists staff concerning budget-related inquiries.
  • Calculates and prepares journal entries and reallocations to resolve discrepancies.
  • Assists with establishing the budget for the following fiscal year by analyzing financial reports and revenue trends.
  • Meets with executives as necessary to discuss budget matters.
  • Assists with the annual cash transfer process, preparing necessary journal entries and reviewing overrides for vouchers, requisitions, and purchase orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in accounting or related area (or 0-2 years with a Master's degree).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • General understanding of budget formulation, execution, cost estimating, and administration processes.
  • Ability to monitor and track obligations and expenditures of funds.
  • Experience in detecting, reconciling, and remedying fiscal discrepancies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with financial management and business case analysis.
  • Experience with government contracting.
  • Ability to provide cost-effective, insightful reporting to decision makers.
