About the position

The Budget Analyst II position at the Phoenix Convention Center involves advanced fiscal analysis, research, and reporting to support the preparation and administration of the City budget. The role includes supervising fiscal accounting staff, managing accounts payable and receivable functions, and preparing various budgets. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong judgment and proficiency in financial software, particularly in Excel, to create reports and analyze budget activities.

Responsibilities

  • Supervising Fiscal Accounting Staff members (Account Clerk III, Accountant I, Accountant II).
  • Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable Accounting functions.
  • Preparing the operating, revenue, and capital budgets.
  • Presenting budget materials to individuals, groups, and management.
  • Using computer skills to prepare and report on budget activity and analysis.
  • Calculating annual work order rates and preparing assessments.

Requirements

  • Three years of experience in governmental budgetary and finance activities.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, statistics, or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial software.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in SAP or similar accounting financial systems.
  • Experience with SHERPA or similar budgeting systems.
  • Experience in reviewing and posting accounts payable and accounts receivable documents.
  • Experience in supervising professional and paraprofessional accounting staff.
  • Experience in preparing complex budget documents for multiple funding sources.
