About the position

The Budget Analyst II at Olgoonik Corporation plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial data related to staffing and training programs within the Foreign Affairs Training Center (FASTC). This position involves a variety of intermediate accounting and budgetary activities, requiring a keen understanding of financial principles and practices. The analyst will be responsible for advising customers on financial matters, analyzing budgets, and compiling data for financial reports. The role demands a proactive approach to financial analysis, where the analyst will project future revenues or expenses based on current financial data. In addition to these responsibilities, the Budget Analyst II will formulate budgets with supervisory assistance and draft or maintain budgeting databases. Monitoring the operational budget and processing invoices for payment are also key tasks. The position requires the employee to work under some supervision while also providing opportunities to exercise independent judgment and initiative in their work. This role is essential for ensuring that financial operations within the FASTC are conducted efficiently and effectively, contributing to the overall success of the organization. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and effective communication skills, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel, is essential, along with experience working with databases and a basic understanding of accounting principles. Familiarity with appropriations law and prior experience with the Department of State are preferred qualifications for this position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years relevant experience or two (2) years with a Master's degree.
  • Two (2) years as a Budget Analyst I or equivalent experience.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint).
  • Solid Excel experience is a must.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting skills is helpful.
  • Familiarity with appropriations law is preferred.
  • Department of State experience preferred.
