About the position

The Budget Analyst III at Olgoonik Corporation plays a crucial role in managing and analyzing financial data related to staffing and training programs within the Foreign Affairs Training Center (FASTC). This position involves a variety of intermediate accounting and budgetary activities, requiring a keen understanding of financial principles and practices. The analyst will be responsible for advising customers on financial matters, analyzing budgets, and compiling data for financial reports. This role is essential for ensuring that the financial operations of the FASTC are conducted efficiently and effectively. In this position, the Budget Analyst will analyze financial data to project future revenues or expenses, compute financial data, and consult with managerial or supervisory personnel to formulate budgets. The analyst will also draft and maintain budgeting databases, monitor the operational budget, and process invoices for payment. While the employee will require some supervision, there is a growing opportunity to exercise independent judgment and initiative in their work, making this a dynamic role within the organization. The Budget Analyst III will work in an office environment, where they will be expected to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high level of organization. The position requires effective communication skills, both orally and in writing, as well as proficiency in Microsoft applications, particularly Excel. The analyst will also benefit from experience working with databases and a solid understanding of basic accounting skills, along with familiarity with appropriations law. Department of State experience is preferred, and the candidate must possess or be able to obtain a SECRET security clearance, as well as be a U.S. Citizen.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Four (4) years relevant experience or two (2) years with a master's degree.
  • Two (2) years as a Budget Analyst I or equivalent experience.
  • Must be highly organized.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge of Microsoft applications (MS Word, PowerPoint).
  • Solid Excel experience is a must.
  • Experience working with databases.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting skills is helpful.
  • Familiarity with appropriations law is required.
  • Department of State experience preferred.
