About the position

The Budget Analyst position within the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) is situated in the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) under the Office of the Chief Financial Officer. This role is crucial for overseeing the formulation, presentation, and execution of the agency's budget, ensuring compliance with DOT and Office of Management and Budget (OMB) requirements. The analyst will provide expert advice and recommendations to senior management, playing a key role in the agency's financial strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and directing the formulation, presentation, and execution of the FMCSA budget.
  • Provide expert advice and recommendations for budgetary actions to senior-level management officials.
  • Review, analyze, and interpret existing and proposed legislation, appropriation language, executive orders, and OMB circulars and bulletins.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and eligible for consideration.
  • At least one year of experience equivalent to GS-13, including budget execution and formulation.
  • Experience interpreting Executive Orders, OMB guidelines, and legislative and policy issues.
  • Experience preparing, editing, and consolidating justifications included in budget submissions.
