About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves managing and overseeing budget execution and administration. The role serves as a functional point of contact for daily budget and financial issues, ensuring compliance with various funding sources and regulations. The analyst will conduct analyses and provide guidance on budgeting processes, utilizing automated systems to support budgetary assignments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the functional point of contact for day-to-day budget and financial issues.
• Perform budget execution and administration work, monitoring obligations and expenditures across various funding sources.
• Provide advice, assistance, and guidance on budgeting and related information.
• Conduct analyses, reviews, and special studies of budget-related information.
• Lead and perform specialized economic analyses and impact studies in support of budget programs.
• Utilize automated budgetary systems and computer-generated products for budgeting assignments.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
• At least one year of specialized experience at the GS-09 level or equivalent, with knowledge of budgetary methods and practices.
• Education qualifications include a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education in a relevant field, or a combination of experience and education.

• Skill in analytical methods and techniques, including cost-benefit analysis and statistical analyses.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
