About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves providing comprehensive budget analysis functions for assigned activities. The role includes developing budget plans, reviewing financial program execution, managing personnel within the financial organization, and presenting budget strategies to management. The analyst must understand the headquarters' mission and objectives to effectively review and approve budgetary requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide budget analysis functions for an assigned activity.
• Participate in the development of budget plans that meet customer needs.
• Review financial program execution to ensure requirements are met.
• Manage personnel within the financial organization to achieve organizational goals.
• Develop and present written and oral strategies for budget presentations, including quarterly management briefings and recommendations for adjustments.
• Understand the headquarters mission and objectives to review, analyze, adjust, and approve budgetary requirements.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.
• Meet Financial Management Certification Level II requirements.
• One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service, including providing advice in budget development, analyzing estimates, monitoring budget execution, and utilizing Army Financial Management Systems.
