About the position

The Budget Analyst position at the Department of Defense involves providing expert advice and counsel on all phases of fund budgeting. This includes planning, formulating, justifying, presenting, executing, and reviewing the organization's budget. The role requires managing assigned accounts and applying the principles of the planning, programming, budgeting, and execution system (PPBES) to develop and analyze budgets effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide advice and counsel on all phases of appropriate fund budgeting.
  • Manage and maintain GFEBS assigned accounts.
  • Apply concepts and practices of PPBES in budget development.
  • Analyze and interpret financial trends in resource utilization.
  • Monitor execution of assigned organization's budget throughout the formulation process.
  • Participate in the review, development, and revision of operating programs and budget submissions.

Requirements

  • Must possess at least one full year of specialized experience in budget and program reviews.
  • Experience in analyzing budget submissions and financial data.
  • Experience in monitoring budget execution using automated finance systems.
  • Must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the Secret level.
