About the position

As a Budget Analyst in the I Corps/Army Senior Commander's Mission Support Staff G8, Program and Budget Division, you will play a crucial role in the financial management of the Army's budgetary processes. This position involves performing a full range of budget analysis, which includes the formulation, justification, presentation, and execution of budgets for Major Subordinate Commands assigned to the division. You will utilize various Army Financial Management systems, such as the General Fund Enterprise Business Systems (GFEBS), Defense Travel System (DTS), and the Global Combat Support System-Army (GCSS-Army), to manage and analyze the financial data of assigned units effectively. Your responsibilities will also include the administration of budget automated systems to execute an annual appropriated fund budget for a unit or activity. You will evaluate the impact of cost and program changes on the budget execution process for assigned accounts, ensuring that all financial activities align with the Army's strategic objectives. This role requires a keen understanding of financial management principles and the ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to various stakeholders. In addition to your analytical duties, you will be expected to maintain a high level of accuracy and compliance with federal regulations and Army policies. The position may also involve working overtime and on weekends as needed, reflecting the dynamic nature of military budgeting and financial management. You will be part of a team that supports the Army's mission through effective financial planning and resource allocation, contributing to the overall success of military operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform full range of budget analysis, including formulation, justification, presentation, and execution for Major Subordinate Commands assigned.
  • Utilize Army Financial Management systems such as GFEBS, DTS, and GCSS-Army for assigned units.
  • Administer budget automated systems for executing an annual appropriated fund budget for a unit or activity.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance.
  • Must obtain and maintain Financial Management Certification Level 2 within two years of appointment.
  • One year of specialized experience in budget analysis and financial management reporting.
  • Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education in Accounting or Finance Management.
