About the position

The Budget Analyst will play a crucial role in managing and analyzing budgets within a nonprofit organization, specifically focusing on federal grants. This position is responsible for ensuring compliance with government regulations, developing financial insights, and supporting the organization's mission through effective budget management and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Executive Director and Program Director to track expenditures and compliance requirements.
  • Track budgets for grant programs, ensuring adherence to federal regulations such as OMB Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
  • Monitor and report on program spending, ensuring compliance with funding source regulations.
  • Prepare financial reports and ensure timely submission of required financial documentation.
  • Forecast future financial needs based on historical data, current expenditures, and revenue projections.
  • Monitor and track program spending and assess adherence to budget allocations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 4-7 years of experience in budgeting, financial analysis, or accounting, with a focus on nonprofit organizations.
  • Federal grant experience, particularly with OMB Uniform Guidance and other grant compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Blackbaud).
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel skills for financial modeling and budget tracking.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Finance, Public Administration, or Nonprofit Management.
  • Experience with nonprofit accounting standards (GAAP).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
