About the position

The Budget Analyst position at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center is designed for recent graduates looking to start their careers in financial management. The role involves assisting with financial analyses, budget planning, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. The analyst will work closely with senior team members to set budget objectives and support the development of spending plans, fostering a culture of diversity and inclusion within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with compiling financial analyses, plans, and briefing materials.
  • Assist senior team members with setting budget objectives.
  • Utilize budget/financial system(s) to assist with analyzing financial reports/information.
  • Assure financial and budget activities are in accordance with pertinent laws and regulations.
  • Assist with preparing reports/analyses and identify discrepancies or areas of concern.
  • Apply Planning, Programming, Budgeting, and Execution (PPBE) guidance according to Federal, Agency, and Center regulations, directives, and policies.
  • Support the development of current/future-year spending plans and provide status updates to senior colleagues/leaders.
  • Foster a culture of engagement, diversity, inclusiveness, excellence and innovation.

Requirements

  • Specialized experience in financial management or related fields, typically in or related to this line of work.
  • Completed a bachelor's degree in an appropriate field or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • For GS-07: One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-05 level or completed 1 full academic year of graduate study in an appropriate field.
  • For GS-09: One year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 level or completed all requirements for a master's or equivalent graduate degree in an appropriate field.
